FELLOWSHIPS

• The University of Pittsburgh's Mascaro Sustainability Initiative is currently seeking talented PhD students for admission into their newly funded IGERT Sustainable Engineering Fellowship program and GAANN program.
• International Postgraduate Programs at UNESCO-IHE (Institute for Water Education) in Delft, The Netherlands. Fellowships are available for members of developing countries
• The International Center for Science and High Technology (ICS) of UNIDO based in Trieste, Italy. Fellowships are available for members of developing countries.
   

TRAINING

• Solar Energy International (SEI) is a non-profit educational organization which teaches people about renewable energy technologies.  SEI teaches hands-on workshops in various locations throughout the US on topics including photovoltaic, wind power, micro-hydro power, solar water pumping, solar home design, natural house building, and renewable energy for the developing world. • The International Institute of Sustainable Development managed by Village Earth in Fort Collins, CO offers courses and a certificate program on participatory practices for sustainable development.  Check the 2007 Online Certificate Program in Community-Based Development.
• Grupo Fenix offers Solar-Cultural Courses and Sustainable Development Service Trips in Nicaragua. Course participants learn about solar energy systems, study applications specific to Central America, visit renewable energy installations, and install a PV lighting system in a rural village. The program includes recreational and cultural activities. Next course will be from January 3-13, 2008.
• Living Water International in Texas conducts training seminars covering various aspects of Integrated Water Solutions including shallow water well drilling and pump installation, pump repair, and health and hygiene. Training information and schedule is available on-line.
• Sustainable Settings, a Whole Systems Learning Center in Carbondale, CO. Its mission is to inspire people and communities to embrace integrated solutions for sustainable development.
• Association for International Practical Training provides paid internship opportunities abroad for university students of science, engineering, and other technical fields.
• The Energy Management Institute offers training sessions in energy issues.
• The School of International Training (SIT) provides experiential field-based study in many countries around the world.

INTERNSHIPS     

• Proworld offers several internships. • Solar Energy International (SEI) provides internships in developing countries through their International Volunteers in Environmentally Sustainable Technologies (INVEST) program.
• The Himalayan Light Foundation offers internships with the Himalayan Light Foundation through their Solar Sisters Program in Nepal and Sri Lanka. The program allows international volunteers to have the opportunity of a lifetime by establishing unforgettable connections with an indigenous community while also contributing to the communities' welfare and the international campaign for environmental and human rights. • The International Association for the Exchange of Students for Technical Experience (IAESTE) provides paid internship opportunities abroad and in the US for university students of science, engineering, and other technical fields.
• Demotech located in The Hague in the Netherlands develops applications for third world countries, does research on how to transfer knowledge and how to create self-reliance by means of technology and stimulate discussion on sustainability.
• The Foundation for Sustainable Development  (FSD) offers various international opportunities for students and professionals from around the world. Their largest program is an internship program in which interns volunteer with local nonprofit organizations in diverse areas of development. Summer and year-round internship programs last eight weeks to a year. FSD also offers short-term service learning trips, volunteer programs, and study tours. All programs include home-stays with local families that provide cultural and language immersion.

• Internships with Natural Capitalism Solutions (NCS) in Boulder, CO. NatCap fosters understanding and implementation of the principles of Natural Capitalism through three main channels: educational programs, international development, research and content development. NCS was founded by Hunter Lovins, co-author of Natural Capitalism.
