Compressed Earth Blocks
"Compressed Earth Block often referred to simply as CEB,
are a type of manufactured construction material formed in a
mechanical press that forms an appropriate mix of dirt,
non-expansive clay, and an aggregate into a compressed block." (Wikipedia)
Soil-mix conditions: 15-40% non-expansive clays,25-40% silt powder,
and sharp sand to small gravel content of 40-70%. Soil moisture
content ranges between 4-12% by weight.
Poster illustrating the main stages of production including
sieving the soil, measuring and mixing of components, molding,
quality control, curing and stacking. It also includes guidelines on
the proper building practices when using compressed earth blocks.
